Detailed description
Lambert Manufil has been making lost keys or corned beef keys since 1924. At the time, this know-how developed with the expansion of the port of Nantes and the canning industry (for fish, particularly sardines). Today, we are the only company in France, Europe and perhaps the world to continue making this product!
The special shape of tinned salted beef means that consumers can slice and eat the meat straight from the pack. As a result, they cannot be opened in the same way as traditional cans, but instead use a key system that is ‘integrated’ into each can.
The key is usually glued to the lid of the can. It looks like a small curved blade that is inserted into a tab on the side of the can. Once the key is correctly positioned, the consumer turns the key clockwise while holding the can firmly with the other hand. This action creates an opening in the can.
Packaging
Lost keys or corned beef keys are packaged in strips or loose.
Application areas
Canning factories
Sealed cans are a practical and durable way of storing food over the long term. These tins are an excellent choice for emergency food reserves. Cans can be stored for many years and provide a reliable source of food in times of need.
Corned beef tins have a unique shape that allows the beef to be ‘sliced and eaten’ straight from the tin.
