Detailed description
French in origin, the Paris Gauge is a simple and effective tool used in various industrial sectors to accurately measure the diameter of metal wires, helping to ensure the quality and conformity of manufactured products.
The gauge comes in the form of a folding double decimetre or a calibrated disc marked with graduations.
To measure the diameter of a steel wire, the operator places the wire on the tool at the point that best corresponds to the diameter of the wire.
Once the match has been found, the wire diameter is read from the graduation on the gauge.
Application areas
Metal industry
The Paris gauge is widely used in the metallurgical industry to measure the diameter of steel wires. This includes the production of wires used in the construction, engineering, automotive and aerospace industries, among others.
Jewellery
The Paris gauge is used to measure the diameter of the gold and silver wires used to make jewellery.
DIY
Because it is so easy to use, the Paris gauge is used for small DIY projects and model making.
Wiring
Steel wire is also used in the manufacture of ropes for various applications, such as hoisting ropes, structural wire ropes, safety ropes, etc. The Paris gauge is used to ensure that wires meet the diameter specifications required for each application.
